Overview

Colorado has one of the most colorful railroad histories in the world. When gold and silver were discovered in the Rockies, rail construction was pushed into every canyon and mountain pass. For many years the trains provided the only transportation to isolated towns, but now have become obsolete.

The museum is a replica of an 1880-style railroad depot. It has thousands of rare photographs, artifacts and documents illustrating the history of the railroads that served Colorado for over 125 years. The model railroads in the lower level are sure to bring out the kid in all visitors.
