Overview    Tips

The resort community of Estes Park is known as the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. The views and western hospitality of this town draws visitors from around the world, making it one of Colorado’s premier vacation resorts. Whether your interests include shopping, hiking in the summer or cross-country skiing during the winter months, you’ll find much to occupy your time.

Located about 70 miles northwest of Denver, Estes Park has the usual surplus of tiny shops, delightful eateries and gorgeous views you would expect from a town bordering one of the country’s grandest parks. The downtown river walk along the Big Thompson River is a wonderful place to enjoy a good meal or cold drink. If summertime means hitting the links, the Estes Park Golf Course has nine holes in one of the most majestic settings imaginable. Herds of roaming elk act as curious onlookers as snow capped peaks hang above every green.

Rest and relaxation is always on tap in Estes Park. The city regularly hosts cultural events, musical festivals and craft fairs, especially in the summer. And there are enough small stores and cozy shops to keep you wandering about for several days. The recreational activities at Estes Park are too numerous to list. Needless to say, if you enjoy outdoor activities, you can do it here.

All of the lodging in the area, other than campgrounds, is located in Estes. From bed and breakfasts to resorts to cabins, the city offers over 100 unique establishments from which to choose. The drive from Denver is one of the most splendid you will encounter. The lush forests, towering peaks and cascading streams will keep you fixated and make the drive go by quickly.
