In 1892, Mollie Kathleen became the first woman to register a mining claim in her own name. Today, her mine is the site of the world’s longest running gold mine tour.
The mine is located near Pikes Peak and provides some excellent views of the mountain. Visitors descend 1000 feet underground and see the inner workings of a unique part of this country’s rich history. The mine has been preserved in its original condition, which enhances that old west feeling. |
