The Mount Evans scenic byway is America’s highest paved road. It takes you within 130 feet of the summit, at which point visitors will need to hike the remaining distance to reach the top. With very little effort you can announce to family and friends that you climbed to the top of one of Colorado’s famous 14,000-foot peaks.
If you want to do some real hiking, the park has around 20 trails of varying length and difficulty, all offering great scenery and a possible peak at some of the areas wildlife. Mount Evans is located 30 miles west of Denver.
